It was with the help of Polygence and as well as my mentor's help I have got this amazing experience of researching on such a field. Polygence helped me overcome my financial burden with their aid, and connected me with a really cool mentor, who has done far more things and have experience working directly with what I wanted to pursue in the future. This was one of the best experience of my life, doing things what undergrads does, I got a perspective of how research field works. which is one of the most valuable lesson that I got.

Project description

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) made the first direct detection of gravitational waves. This detection was only possible due to the advanced technology developed by the LIGO team. Particularly impressive were the mechanisms used to keep suspended mirrors from being impacted by external noise. Chinmay will write a review paper describing the LIGO experiment and focusing on the advancements that have been made to the mirror system. The paper will pull from multiple reliable sources to give an approachable description of the mirror systems.
