Project description
Sujith's project focuses on dance therapy, a therapy that uses creative movement to promote physical and mental health, and that has been shown to provide effective supplemental treatment for certain neurological disorders. Demonstrated improvements include muscle strength, movement, and posture, as well as attenuation of mental health symptoms such as emotional distress, negative self-image, and poor executive functions. Furthermore, dance therapy is enjoyable, accessible, and inclusive of most children and their families. Both Sujith's written and video portions of this project explore these ideas of dance therapy, but focus on different neurological diseases and age groups.
Project outcome
Sujith wrote a paper on the effects of dance therapy on children and adolescents with cerebral palsy, which he submitted to the Young Scientist's Journal. He also filmed a video for dance therapy associations.
