Bio
I recently graduated from physical therapy school and work in the acute pediatric setting. I have clinical experience with wound care, outpatient orthopedics, and acute care. I completed my BS in Rehabilitation Science in Spring 2020. My concentration was in Pathokinesiology (the study of how changes in body movement cause changes in body tissues), but I also minored in Neuroscience where I focused on movement disorders like Parkinson's disease. In my free time, I love to run, hike, and travel. I lived in Germany for almost six years when I was growing up and it was an amazing opportunity to see new things! I also completed a study abroad experience comparing healthcare systems, and specifically the provision of allied health services, in the U.K. and Ireland. I'm looking forward to traveling again soon and am always looking for suggestions!Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Moving Fast and Slow
One of the hallmarks of Parkinson's disease is paradoxical kinesia, which is the ability to move quickly in response to certain stimuli when one was unable to move before. In this project, we will examine how paradoxical kinesia can be exploited to improve quality of life for patient's with PD, incorporating different sensory stimuli and examining current clinical practice.
Teaching experience
I have tutored high school students for about three years now and have acted as a mentor to students in my undergraduate and graduate programs.Credentials
