digital art, web design, sound design, historical fashion, herpetology, fashion, art history, game development, app development

Bio

I'm a programmer with a background and interest in the arts (both visual and music), currently studying web, app and game development. I have a passion for learning and am interested in design, fashion history, art history, and animals. I love creating interactive visual diagrams. I would also love to work with anyone interested in herpetology/biology/ecology that is looking to pick up technological tools to help with visualizations/maps/etc.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

An interactive timeline of modern art

How can we visualize data that is messy and intertwined? The modern art era--a period that spanned approximately one century-- is full of brilliant diverging and similar ideas. This project deals with how to create an interactive visualization that allows viewers to understand the general timeline as well as dig deeper to see trends in art styles and show how art periods and artists inspire one another.

Digital Closet App

Create an app to sort the clothes in your closet. The function of the app will be to take photos of each individual piece and the app will classify it into tops/bottoms/etc. You can star you favorite pieces, sort by new tags like season and color, etc. This app will teach you how to create a database to log clothes, an API for clothing recognition, use tags to sort clothes, and learn an app development language.

Coding skills

python, Javascript and creative coding frameworks (p5, Processing, React, React THREE.js, Unity), Java, HTML, CSS, C++, Objective C, Django

Teaching experience

I have tutored high school students in math and worked with college students on learning the fundamentals of CSS, HTML and Javascript. Previous projects I've helped with in the past include a map visualization of houses based on income level in Manhattan. I have also acted as Course Assistant for the web development course at Stanford, where I worked with students on the class projects, helped create exams and graded work.
