Bio

I am an Internal Medicine resident with a deep academic passion for teaching, research, and mentorship. My work spans physiology, epidemiology, sleep and circadian science, and spinal cord injury, and I enjoy helping students grow confident in data analysis, R programming, scientific writing, and study design. I’m dedicated to creating supportive learning environments—whether through structured study plans, clear explanations of complex concepts, or personalized guidance tailored to each mentee’s goals. Outside of medicine and research, I’m a writer at heart who enjoys crafting poetry and finding inspiration in local coffee shops as I try new brews. I love staying active by running and playing basketball, and I’m always on the hunt for the best food spots in town. Whether exploring a new restaurant or enjoying a quiet moment with a good espresso, I value balance, creativity, and meaningful connection in everything I do.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Improving Clinical Communication with Nepali & Bhutanese Communities

This project aims to improve understanding between clinicians and patients from Nepali and Bhutanese communities in Harrisburg and Hershey by developing a brief, culturally sensitive questionnaire to be used at clinic check-in (with interpreter support when needed). The questionnaire will capture patients’ beliefs about illness, their primary concerns for the visit, their expectations for outcomes (what they want fixed and how fast), and their preferences for communication and care. This project could result in a paper or a presentation!

Teaching experience

I have extensive teaching experience spanning medical school, graduate, and undergraduate levels, where I’ve guided students through complex topics in physiology, host–pathogen interactions, genetics, and chemistry. My research background encompasses projects in epidemiology, sleep and circadian biology, and spinal cord injury, equipping me with strong skills in R Studio, data wrangling, statistical analysis, and scientific writing. I bring a learner-centered, structured approach to mentorship—helping mentees build analytical confidence, deepen conceptual understanding, and strengthen their research and writing abilities.
