Look Around: Studies on Urban Spaces
I have developed a number of plans for neighborhoods, cities, and sites. An important aspect is studying the space before deciding how to act. The physical environment is filled with clues about the past, how people move around, the values and culture of a society. I am open to developing a project around the student's interest in the spatial world.
Sustainability, Climate Change, and Cities
I am passionate about creating cities of the future that are sustainable for the environment. The organization of human settlements is an important aspect for sustainability; how do we move around? where does our food come from? how do we use energy? how closely do we live to each other, work, and amenities? In this project, I will collaborate with students on looking at an aspect of sustainability related to human settlements.
Cycling and Transport in Cities
I have a passion for cycling, and believe in it as a viable mode of urban transport. From my travels abroad to Europe, I have seen how countries and cities can promote the bike for people to get around. I also believe cycling plays an important role in creating sustainable and resilient cities. I will work with students to develop studies, policies, and research on cycling or other forms of transport.
