Bio
I recent PhD from Saint Louis University. My research is primarily focused on studying brain cancer and the effect the surrounding tissue has on tumor properties. My research will help process of finding new cancer drugs. I also have a master’s and bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University in Biomedical Engineering. When I am not in lab, preparing for conference presentations or writing papers for publication, I stay active by bowling and playing basketball and volleyball. I enjoying playing Play Station and Switch (Mario Kart being my favorite). When I hang out with my friends, we go to the zoo, movies and trivia nights. I am excited to work with the next generation of academia!Project ideas
Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.
Mechanosensing Cancer Cells
There is a lot of evidence showing that cancer cells react differently to different matrix stiffnesses and preferentially migrate to stiffer matrices. Being able to see if/how cancer cells migrate to stiffer matrices and how migrating cells react to stimuli would help better understand cancer metastasis and help with drug development.
Coding skills
MatLabTeaching experience
I have been a tutor for Saint Louis University since 2013, tutoring student athletes. I have been a teaching assistant for several different class including biomaterials, biomaterial computing and biomechanics. I was a mentor for the STARS Program in St. Louis, where I mentored high school students for a summer where they learned basic lab schools and wrote a research paper on the research performed. I am a mentor for several undergraduate lab members, teaching them lab skills such as cell culture, hydrogel formation and experimental design.Credentials
