Design and Distribution of Customizable Insoles for Cerebral Palsy Patients

Started Apr. 11, 2022

Abstract or project description

My company's purpose is centered around creating and producing commercially 3D-printed insoles for children with Cerebral Palsy. 8,000 newborns are diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy every year and with their continuous growth into adulthood, they will need to be able to obtain insoles in order to function at their best ability. The true issue at hand is some families are unable to pay for these insoles because of how expensive they are as well as the fact that it takes months to produce these insoles. With children constantly growing, by the time the insoles are shipped, they may no longer fit the patient. With my new solution, patients will be able to buy 3D printed adjustable custom insoles, allowing patients to receive the insoles in a faster and cheaper way while also allowing for an extended wear. I will focus on working with _____ to help patients scan their feet and distribute the insoles. After both feet are scanned, I will take the ____ files to ____ lab to begin the 3D printing process. The 3D printing process should take approximately 1 week to create, which is extremely quicker then the current insole creation time. (need to add more details when more info is gathered) I have always been passionate about orthopedics and I hope that this new alternative can help many families.
