Comparative (Ancient) History
In our first session we will start by thinking about a broad ancient historical research topic: this can cover military, political, social or cultural history and could be about the Greek and Roman worlds but also west, central, south Asia and beyond. Gradually we will hone in on key research questions and a set of under-explored evidence. Towards the end we will discuss how to critically analyse secondary literature, argue by drawing comparisons with other historical regions and time periods, and then think about the structuring of your paper.
