Bio

Hello, everyone! My name is Meina Piao. I received my BS and MEng in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley. I'm currently doing project management at a Biotech company in Bay Area. My career interests include technology, business strategy consulting, Medtech, and entrepreneurship. My prior research focused on microfluidic devices, medical devices, and drug delivery systems. Outside of academics, I spend my time volunteering to mentor high school and bioengineering undergraduate students and teach Korean to elementary school students. I enjoy reading comic books, playing badminton, and hiking.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Promoting Greener Energy by Using Patent Analysis Tools to Commercialize Sustainable Biofuel Molecules

In this project, you will explore solutions or new business models to address climate changes, energy crises, or healthcare. The topic depends on your interests. You will design a research project and develop go-to-market strategies using insights derived from market research and customer discovery.

Teaching experience

I guided a team of high school students through a seven-week bioengineering research design competition hosted by BioEHS. And I provided one-to-one guidance to support historically underrepresented transfer students in the STEM field to help them succeed at UC Berkeley.
