Project Portfolio

Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) effect on development and migration of breast cancer cells

Started Sept. 28, 2021

Abstract or project description

We are going to explore breast cancer development and metastasis and look into the mechanism of action via tumor suppressors. Ideally, we will research p53 (a tumor suppressor/others) and see how that influences ROS production. ROS is influential in tumorigenesis and leads to microenvironment that facilitates favorable factors for cancer. Our research will explore how this suppression leads to ROS production and if this in turn influences migration of cancer cells. We will explore if ROS is a direct influence on the migration or just a byproduct of tumor suppressor mutations and how that plays in leading to the migration of cancer to other tissues.
