AI and Adolescent Mental Health: Exploring Opportunities and Challenges in Post-Pandemic Care
Started Sept. 10, 2025
Abstract or project description
This project examines the rising rates of depression and anxiety among adolescents in the post-pandemic era and explores how AI-based mental health interventions may address these challenges. It investigates psychological and social factors contributing to this increase, such as social media use, reduced stigma, and accessibility of mental health resources. The study focuses on how adolescents interact with AI tools, including chatbots, apps, and virtual therapy platforms, and evaluates their effectiveness compared to traditional therapies like CBT and psychodynamic approaches. It also analyzes the benefits of AI, such as scalability and personalization, alongside limitations like lack of human connection and ethical concerns. Ultimately, the project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of AI’s potential role in adolescent mental health care and identify areas for future research and intervention.
