Abstract or project description

Today, solar energy is one of the most prevalent and fastest-growing forms of renewable energy. Due to the issue of intermittency, it is vital to optimize the performance of solar cells to the fullest extent. The semiconductors used in solar cells are critical to the efficiency of the solar cell. I introduce various properties of semiconductors and identify and rank the top five properties that result in the most effective solar cells. I also discuss the different semiconductor types. Utilizing these materials results in a highly effective manner in which solar energy is harvested, helping prioritize the efficiency of solar cells.
