Generational Differences in Attitudes Toward Climate Change

Started Jan. 9, 2026

Abstract or project description

Cole is working on a project examining generational attitudes toward climate change, with a focus on how knowledge, beliefs, and behavioral intentions may differ or overlap between younger and older generations. He plans to administer a survey to classmates at his school as well as to adults within his community, including teachers, in order to capture perspectives across age groups. The project explores whether differences exist in what people know about climate change, how strongly they believe in its causes and impacts, and the extent to which they intend to engage in climate-related actions. By comparing these three domains across generations, Cole aims to identify both points of divergence and areas of shared understanding. This topic is significant because generational differences in climate attitudes can shape public discourse, policy support, and collective action, while areas of overlap may offer opportunities for intergenerational dialogue and collaboration around climate solutions.
