Bio

Both my research work and work as a therapist focuses on autism spectrum disorder, access to mental health treatment, and supporting self-advocacy. My research focuses on understanding why some people get great autism services while others do not and developing treatment programs that improve access for all. As a therapist, I love working with families, teenagers, neurodivergent youth, and members of the LGBTQ community.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Centering Neurodivergent Voices

Autistic adults have long advocated for autism related services and supports to center the voices and opinions of autistic people. A cool project idea would be to interview or survey neurodivergent people of different backgrounds on what they would like to see change about mental health services.

Mental Health Services during COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for people to get mental health support. A project idea would be to create a podcast or report on challenges to accessing mental health care and tips on the best way to get support.
