How does liquid metal help reduce waste/e-waste in bikes in Taiwan?

Started July 2, 2026

Abstract or project description

One of my goals for this project is to help achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 12, which is to ensure sustainable production and consumption patterns. I would like to do this by reducing e-waste through recycling, repurposing, and using innovative materials to extend product lifetime. Only 20% of the 7kg of e-waste per person per year is recycled. Bicycles, which require electronic parts, contribute to this percentage as well. Taiwan, a country with a strong bike culture, manages its e-waste by allowing people to sell their e-waste, earning money for recycling. In my presentation, I will investigate a solution to reducing bike e-waste through application of liquid metal composites.
