Hi there! My name is Vivian Tan and my Polygence project is on environmental initiatives in improving the well-being of impoverished individuals. I chose to work on this project to better understand the environment's role in maintaining positive mental and physical health. After my project is complete, I would love to continue finding ways to enhance the lives of suffering communities without the expense of the environment.

Abstract or project description

Attention grabber: Impoverished communities in America are being left behind despite the nation's industrialization and improving quality of life. In 2021, it was reported that 11.6% of Americans live in poverty (citation). Individuals in poverty often do not have the ability to afford necessities needed to meet the standard quality of life. As a result, these individuals are more vulnerable to mental and physical health complications. Context/background on the subject: 2-3 sentences Why you’re researching this: To combat the health crisis, this article aims to explore how environmental initiatives, such as sustainable projects, green spaces, and ______ are able to improve the well-being of impoverished communities.
