Project Portfolio

What properties of gravitational waves can tell us about the astrophysical events that are happening and how do they do that?

Started Mar. 19, 2025

Abstract or project description

I will analyze gravitational wave data provided by LIGO and other gravitational wave observatories around the world using statistical analysis and programming to discuss the factors that influence the attributes of gravitational waves when they reach current gravitational wave detectors. I will research the properties of black holes, neutron stars, and Einstein's theories of relativity to determine how gravitational waves are produced and how the nature of collisions between objects can lead to the emission of gravitational waves. I will also learn more about the universe and how it works through this research. This project will culminate in writing a research paper to be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal that will document my findings.
