About

Hello! My name is Stefi and my research topic is “Gendered AI Confidence, Adoption, and Career Advancement in Bulgaria’s IT Sector”. I chose to work on this topic in particular because it combines my interests in economics and technology, while exploring a question that has received little attention in Bulgaria. As AI becomes increasingly important in our lives, especially the IT sector, I want to understand whether differences in confidence and adoption influence career opportunities, and where targeted support could make the greatest impact.

How Do AI Adoption and Literacy Impact Career Outcomes for Women in IT?

Started July 2, 2026

Abstract or project description

This research examines whether gendered perceptions of artificial intelligence influence career advancement among IT professionals in Bulgaria. Rather than focusing only on access to AI tools, the project investigates a less visible barrier: whether confidence, self-perceived competence, and workplace belonging shape how men and women adopt AI and benefit from it professionally.
