Exploring the relationship between epilepsy and brain function and health

Abstract or project description

Siona's project is examining the relationship between epilepsy and different brain disorders, as well as exploring the therapeutic strategies that are out there to mitigate the adverse symptoms associated with epilepsy. In the project, we have chosen three subsections for focused research: the link between epilepsy and other neurological disorders, along with psychiatric disorders, the connection between epilepsy and metabolism, which would explore the effects of the ketogenic and Atkin's diet on epilepsy, and potential ways to prevent epilepsy from developing and mitigating symptoms and effects. The more general lens of this project, rather than a specific focus, allows it to include a wide range of topics concerning epilepsy.
