Assessing variations in state-level vaping legislation on youth vaping

Abstract or project description

This project would analyze the impact of varying legislation curbing youth vaping at the state-level. Among all the approaches this paper aims to find the best one, if there even is one. I would use sources like state legislatures websites, CDC data, and Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS). The benefit of the project is that it turns large sums of data into an actionable federal policy framework. The downside would be inconsistent state level data which may need creative comparison methods. The exciting part would be examining which states take the lead in effective youth prevention legislation and finding an overall effective national policy. The least exciting part would be combing through dense legal documents.
