Abstract or project description

This project is one that intertwines the fields of data science and political science in order to explore the bridges that connect the two careers together. I garnered an interest in this project because data science and political science have always reigned as the two major aspects of my life that I’ve found myself to be passionate about. Thus, I wanted to explore the ways these two fields can be connected to form a legitimate career path that I can work toward. My goal is to execute a project that results in a meaningful contribution to society, and also serves to educate me about how these career paths can work together to do so.

My method for achieving this goal is by examining an old case study and reorganizing the data to affirm whether the old conclusions still stand true to this day. This case study concerns the political ideologies of different lawyers across America, which were measured using multiple factors, including geographic locations, level of education, area of employment, donations to political organizations, and more. The conclusions of this study provide quantitative measures for the political ideology of lawyers, ranging from extremely liberal or conservative. This paper will be re-examining the case study by working with different variables and newer data, in order to either affirm or negate the previous claims that were reached.
