Does Show Type affect Broadway Show Attendance?

Abstract or project description

Many determinants affect Theatre performance. For example, it is known the ticket price and median income play a large role in determining theatre show attendance. However, we don't know how show type affects theatre performance. I'll use a multiple linear regression model to investigate the effect of show type after accounting for median income, unemployment rate, average ticket price and average gas price. Broadway show data will be gathered from 1999 to 2019 and all monetary data will be adjusted for inflation. I suspect comedy show type has a higher theatre attendance as the general public prefer light hearted activities for the recreations.
