Arterial hypertension and Alzheimer's disease

Abstract or project description

Alzheimer's Dementia accounts for 60%-80% of all dementia-related cases, with its most notable symptom being the inability to recall new information and can be associated with a decrease in motor functions. It is usually derived from arterial hypertension (high blood pressure accounts for 51% of all cardiovascular diseases associated with dementia), which is caused by the high force of the blood pushing against the artery walls, which can be fatal overtime. Multiple studies had determined that Cerebral Small Vessel Disease is the main bridge between arterial hypertension and vascular dementia due to its role in the development of arteriosclerosis. A later study concluded that Angiotensin II is the best medication to limit the effectiveness of arterial hypertension by preventing the contraction of the blood vessels. However, the best way to limit the overall effectiveness of AD and other forms of dementia is to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.

How would the amyloid beta protein affect the rest of the body (e.g., senses, movement, etc.) if it affected different lobes of the brain? A critical review is supposed to examine another person’s thoughts on a topic from your point of view. Your stand should be based off your knowledge that you have accumulated from lectures, readings, experiences, etc. A critical review should not discuss everything the author writes, but it should discuss the key points. To write a good critical review, you must be able to analyze the key points of the author’s work, and how it contributes to the whole article as a whole.

Understanding Dementia: Exploring neurodegenerative disease through real world case studies

Dementia refers to a loss of memory, language, problem-solving skills, and other thinking abilities that impact someone’s daily living. Currently, more than 55 million people in the world have dementia. It is projected that someone in the world develops dementia every 3 seconds. Dementia is not a single disease. It is comprised of multiple brain diseases that present differently from one another at the early stages of the disease course and have different underlying causes.

In this course, we will use clinical cases to learn about different types of dementia, unique brain changes seen in different diseases, and the diagnosis process at the dementia clinic.
