How does parental mental health impact children’s development of socioemotional functioning?

Abstract or project description

This project will examine how the mental health of a parent affects their child’s development of socio-emotional functioning. Specifically, how a parent could impact their child’s development, with poor parental mental health leading to children experiencing difficulty regulating their emotions, whereas positive parental mental health leads to a higher ability in children to regulate their emotions, will be explained. Also the factors involved in the development of socio-emotional functions, such as parenting skills, and what parenting types they practice will be explored. Finally, I will be coming to conclusions by deriving information from previous researches, and providing my own analysis.
