How does marine pollution differently affect male and female Atlantic salmon in terms of health, behavior, and reproductive success

Started May 12, 2025

Abstract or project description

this project, I will research how marine pollution affects male and female Atlantic salmon differently. I will look at how pollution impacts their health, behavior, and ability to reproduce. Some pollutants I will focus on include microplastics, heavy metals, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals. I will compare how male and female salmon react to these pollutants. For example, I will investigate whether one sex is more susceptible to certain toxins, or if pollution impacts their hormones and breeding success in different ways. I will use scientific studies and data from real salmon habitats to understand these differences. The goal of this research is to determine whether pollution affects male and female salmon differently and why this might impact the species' survival.
