Abstract or project description
Study: Jacobson et al., 2023. Real-world outcomes with CAR T-cell therapies in large B-cell lymphoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Transplantation and Cellular Therapy.
Study Design: A massive systematic review and meta-analysis pooling data from 76 real-world patient cohorts to see how CAR-T therapies perform in everyday clinics outside of perfect clinical trials. The Comparison: It evaluated the real-world performance, survival rates, and toxicities of the two main approved CAR-T products: Axi-cel vs. Tisa-cel. Efficacy vs. Safety Trade-off: Axi-cel demonstrated statistically superior survival and response rates, but carried a massive, nearly 4-fold higher risk of severe neurotoxicity (ICANS) compared to Tisa-cel. The Manufacturing Timeline: Crucially, the analysis noted that Axi-cel had a significantly shorter median time from cell harvesting (apheresis) to final CAR-T infusion than Tisa-cell
