Biological and Clinical Effects of Genetic Mutations in Female Associated Cancers

Started June 20, 2025

Abstract or project description

Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, yet not all cancers have received equal attention in research and public discourse. Historically, cancers that predominantly affect women—such as breast and ovarian cancers—have been understudied compared to those more common in men. This project seeks to contribute to the growing body of knowledge aimed at correcting that imbalance by examining key genetic mutations that drive female-associated cancers. The review explores how these mutations alter protein structure and function, disrupt cellular processes, and ultimately contribute to tumorigenesis. Beyond the molecular mechanisms, the paper also considers broader implications such as clinical outcomes, genetic screening, and insurance accessibility. By integrating scientific insights with societal context, this work aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the impact of these mutations.
