Observing Patterns in Covid-19 Vaccine Misinformation on Twitter

Abstract or project description

This student will be exploring covid-19 vaccine misinformation on Twitter. Using a Twitter dataset and a model proposed in two prior works, the student will use a classifier to identify covid-19 vaccine misinformation in tweet data. The student will complete further analysis on the misinformation tweets to discover trends and patterns in misinformation talking points and themes over time. We hope to discover how themes and specific pieces of misinformation change in popularity overtime. Furthermore the student will compare this analysis to trends in vaccination rates overtime to understand any relationship between the two.
