About

Hey! My name is Millena Xavier and my project is about autism. I decided to work on autism because I already have a project about this and I received some recognition, such as Forbes Under 30 (2023). I want to publish a paper at the end of my research.

Projects

  • "Is infantile jaundice a risk factor for autism in a pediatric population?" with mentor Lucie (Working project)

Project Portfolio

Is infantile jaundice a risk factor for autism in a pediatric population?

Started Feb. 9, 2024

Abstract or project description

The research aims to explore the potential correlation between infantile jaundice and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in pediatric populations. Infantile jaundice, occurring in up to 80% of neonates, is characterized by elevated levels of unconjugated bilirubin that can breach the blood-brain barrier, potentially leading to brain damage. ASD manifests through challenges in social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors. This study seeks to investigate if neonatal jaundice contributes to neurodevelopmental delays, particularly focusing on ASD risk factors. By analyzing clinical data, the research intends to shed light on the relationship between infantile jaundice and ASD, providing insights into preventive strategies and early intervention approaches in pediatric care.
