Analyzing the disparities in access to medication amongst pediatric patients in low income families (and how to help)
Started Jan. 17, 2024
Abstract or project description
In low/middle income countries (LMICS or LICS/MICS), accessibility to pediatric medication is an incredibly substantial issue. The majority of children from these regions are unable to access the vital medication necessary for their survival. This review analyzes the barriers causing these disparities in prescription medication access, such as financial constraints, social biases, and/or limited access to medical facilities and medications. It also explores potential solutions including international aid and nationally implemented programs, and highlights critical areas for future research. As access to pediatric medication continues to become a more widespread problem, a great demand to improve this issue should exist.
