Developing a New Ranking System for US Climbing

Abstract or project description
USAC climbing currently ranks competitors based on placement without considering percentile (9th place out of 10 is better than 10th place out of 20). The goal of this project is to explore other types of ranking systems and create a new one to better rank competitors on a Regional and District level. We plan to explore a new points system to establish a fair way of ranking competitions where the number of competitors is not static in each competition to find a better way to differentiate who should qualify for higher level competitions.
