The Flaws of the American Electoral College

Abstract or project description

Maia is working on a project exploring the American Electoral College and the ways that it does and does not represent the will of the American people. To demonstrate the ways that the institution is proportional to the American Voter, Maia will take three states as a case study -- one Democrat, one Republican and one swing. We will make each state it's own country and create an electoral college and have this institution select the governor and compare it to the public will. We explore how true proportionality compared to the proportional design of the American Constitution compares in terms of the outcome.
