About

Hello! My name is Lakshyaraj Singh Deora. The focus of my Polygence project is on Jawai, my homeland, which has undergone significant changes due to tourism. There are several reasons why I have chosen to pursue this project, but the primary one stems from my deep connection with Jawai. As a native of this region, my passion for this topic is unparalleled compared to any other project I have worked on. I aspire to create a research paper that delves into the diverse facets of this area. Upon completion, my ultimate goal is to publish and present to the world an objective analysis of how tourism has impacted Jawai, both positively and negatively.

Sustainability Reform To Manage Tourism Impacts in Jawai, India

Started Apr. 21, 2023

Abstract or project description

Experiences in natural environments can cultivate an appreciation for and a sense of responsibility toward nature. The feeling of responsible tourism explains the popularity of ecotourism, a sustainable and conscientious form of travel that promotes conservation, supports local communities and increases environmental awareness. While ecotourism provides socioeconomic and cultural benefits, it can also harm the environment when unregulated, as industry stakeholders without government oversight often overexploit the environment. This study analyzed the economic and environmental impacts of the local wildlife tourism industry in Jawai, India, using expert knowledge of the area. To improve the sustainability of wildlife tourism, I suggest a regulatory framework including research needs, improved operator practices, greater community involvement, and effective government interventions. These recommendations can guide the sustainable development of wildlife tourism in Jawai and other understudied areas.
