What metrics have the most significant impact on the Houston Astros’ likelihood of winning a game?

Started June 5, 2025

Abstract or project description

This project aims to develop a predictive model that can forecast the outcomes of Houston Astros games using unconventional data sources. The model will incorporate factors such as day/night game differentials and team performance trends; specifically, it records the team's moving averages on a differential basis. By training the model on historical game data from the 2023-2025 seasons, we aime to refine its accuracy in predicting future game results. This model will then be tested by predicting the outcomes of upcoming Astros games, with the results compared to actual game outcomes and Vegas odds. The effectiveness of the model will be evaluated based on its predictive accuracy, and the findings will be documented in a research paper, detailing the methodology, model performance and comparison to other prediction models.
