About

Hello! my name is Jessica Burke and my research paper is "Edible coatings for Shelf Life Extension Of Fresh Cut Fruits: A Rapid Review." Edible films or coatings are defined as any thin material used for wrapping or coating food to extend the shelf life of the product which may be consumed together or removed before consumption. This rapid review aims to investigate the three main groups of edible coatings: protein-based, polysaccharide-based, and lipid-based. I would like to pursue food science as a major in college and this project allowed me to get a glimpse of some of the activities I would be doing in the future. Thank you so much!
