About

Hello, my name is Jaden Randhawa, and I would like to conduct my Project around Environmental Science. I have chosen environmental science as since I was young, I have always had an interest in nature, enjoy planting with my grandfather in our home garden, and admiring nature wherever I go.

What is the relationship between el nino, precipitation, and wildfires in California in last 20 years?

Started June 8, 2023

Abstract or project description

Investigates the intricate relationship between El Niño events, precipitation patterns, and wildfires in California over the past two decades. California, known for its susceptibility to wildfires, has experienced significant variations in precipitation influenced by the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon. The objective of this research is to examine the impact of El Niño events on California's precipitation patterns and subsequently assess their association with wildfire occurrences. This will be important as to predicting future precipitation in California, affecting mainly California's central valley, which is known for its mass agriculture. This will also be important as to predicting when wildfires may or may not be likely to occur, saving many lives and acres of land in advance.
