What is the Role of Dark Matter in the Evolution of the Universe

Abstract or project description
The behavior of dark matter has been very elusive, and even today it is still not understood well. In addition, there are holes in our understanding of the Standard Model of Particle Physics. This paper will provide a comprehensive overview of dark matter’s influence on the evolution of structure in the universe via the Lambda-CDM model, as well as explores the holes in the Standard Model of Particle Physics as it relates to dark matter. It will specifically be looking at three dark matter particle candidates, with axions currently being the most prominent option out of the three particle candidates.
