About

Hello! My name is Jackie. I am a current high school junior from New York. My Polygence project is a review paper looking at the effects of music on cognitive function, specifically attention, memory, and mood. I have had a long-standing interest in psychology, so I wanted to focus on a topic well-connected to my interests. I landed on this specific subject because of its ability to be applied to my personal life as a student. After completing my project, my goal is to showcase my work by publishing in a journal, or potentially sharing my findings with fellow students.

This research paper looks into the relationships between music and mood, learning, and memory, specifically the impacts it has on emotion regulation, learning enhancement, and memory retention. Understanding the role of music on our brains is important for applications in various domains of our lives, from educational environments to social settings or our psyche. The ability to capitalize on the potential of music can be valuable to achieving further success.
