Hello! My name is Jack Goldstein! I intend for my Polygence project to be focused on the impact that social media has on the normalized use of antisemitic slurs and jokes. After my project, I hope to take my research and deliver presentations to schools in the Portland area. My overarching goal is for no other kid to feel inferior because of their religious identity.Projects

Abstract or project description
Throughout history, the Jewish people have been subject to persecution as they are a vulnerable minority. Antisemitism in social media has spurred viral content that has negatively impacted Jewish high school students. After conducting a brief literature review, I created a presentation directed toward high school students in the Portland area. I used critical media studies as a lens to explore how antisemitic slurs and jokes have been normalized in social media. In this action research study, I used qualitative pre- and post- surveys to measure the impact of my presentation on my participants. I used critical self reflection as a tool for self improvement and understanding as a facilitator.
