The play-rest ratio and it's impact on NBA players success

Started Mar. 19, 2025

Abstract or project description

In his own words, Hudson's project will: "This project will summarize the optimal play-to-rest schedules for key players to identify ways to protect athlete health and maximize team success. This project will aim to identify the games coaches should rest their players on. The goal would be to identify the balance between maximizing team success by not resting key players to much but also not to little so the players aren’t burnt out for the playoffs. The project will evaluate primary research focusing on outcome variables such as win percentage with and without the key players, player rest ratio during seasons (ignoring injury) and its relationship to success in the playoffs, rating of perceived exertion during practice, away vs, home game success, etc. By evaluating these variables in concert with one another, the ideal practice-play plan can be established, and we may be able to better understand physiological impact of play on an athlete."
