About

Hello, my name is Dylan. My passion project is on the Chernobyl accident in Zaparozia Ukraine. I chose this topic because of my passion for animals and how it affected them and because that is were my mother grew up, my grandma was born, and where my roots are from.

Projects

  • "The spatial variability in the short and long term health effects of the Chernobyl accident" with mentor Jo (May 12, 2023)

Project Portfolio

The spatial variability in the short and long term health effects of the Chernobyl accident

Started Sept. 21, 2022

Abstract or project description

Dylan's project focuses on the Chornobyl disaster and how it affected the communities around it. By researching how the disaster happened and the effects of the nuclear radiation both in the surrounding Ukrainian communities and neighboring countries, Dylan seeks to provide an overview of the long and short-term effects of exposure to gamma radiation. Through this project, Dylan will learn more about nuclear radiation and how it can affect DNA structure and cell life in mammals. Additionally, Dylan will include information about how future disasters can be averted and, potentially, look into comparing the radiation type and effects to other nuclear disasters.
