About

##### Hello! My name is Chimdy. My project is on neuroscience. For a while now, studying brain cancer of the brain has been my all-time passion and lifelong dream. I really hope this research helps me.

Understanding the pathology underlying Glioblastoma and investigating the potential therapeutic treatments

Started May 6, 2025

Abstract or project description

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and aggressive form of primary brain cancer, characterized by rapid growth, genetic complexity, and resistance to conventional therapies. Despite advances in neurosurgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, the prognosis for patients remains poor, with median survival typically less than two years. The underlying pathology of GBM involves diverse molecular mechanisms, including alterations in tumor suppressor genes, dysregulation of growth signaling pathways, and the presence of glioma stem-like cells that promote recurrence. Understanding these biological processes is essential for identifying new therapeutic strategies. Importantly, the review will also discuss current limitations in GBM research, such as the difficulty of modeling the disease in laboratory settings and the challenges of drug delivery across the blood–brain barrier. For this project, Chimdy will conduct a literature-based review (~5–7 pages) that first outlines the key pathological features of GBM and then investigates promising therapeutic approaches currently being developed or in clinical trial, ranging from targeted drugs and immunotherapies to novel delivery methods designed to overcome resistance mechanisms.
