Lithium is a very critical mineral in today's economy. With newfound interest in lithium for the growing market of batteries for electric vehicles, old ways of mining lithium are not enough. Old ways of extracting lithium include hard-rock mining and evaporating it from salar ponds, but new ways include extracting lithium from brine in different processes. This increase in demand for lithium has given companies lots of opportunity to make money off extracting lithium and also further the EV market and boost the economy. It also poses a big impact on the economy due to its impact in the reduction of emissions caused by gas cars.
