Algebra of Spirographs

Abstract or project description

The project is simple: First, we will figure out the algebraic foundation of the symmetries on spirographs. This will answer the following questions:

1. How many teeth will we need (internal and external) to achieve a shape with some “n” number of spokes
2. How will we address “shallow” versus “deep” spokes? (This will likely be a more geometric intuition) From there, we will design a handful of inner gears with a fixed outter gear, then design a 3d print file.
