Can neuroforecasting average nucleus accumbens (NAcc) activation predict large economic shifts such as financial market bubbles or shifts in collective economic behavior?

Started Feb. 26, 2026

Abstract or project description

My paper explores the basis of neuroforecasting and its applications in predicting economic behavior, as well as the applications of specifically targeting the nucleus accumbens (NAcc) to predict larger economic changes such as market bubbles and significant shifts in behavior, and explores the significance of being able to do so. It examines whether neuroforecasting provides a plausible pathway to predicting economic shifts, arguments supporting and rejecting its use, and evaluates each. It then considers the real world applications of neuroforecasting, future possibilities and limitations in this subfield, possible ethical implications, and concludes with a final examination of my original question.
