Started July 14, 2023

Abstract or project description

The goal of this paper is to put together a report that compiles an index of PFAS, Phthalates, Parabens, as well as other chemicals in dermal-applied household products. This study will involve household products with a dermal application and assessment of the active and inactive ingredients to identify PFAS, phthalates. Products included Shampoos, Soaps, Sunscreens, Deodorants, Body Wash, Moisturizers/Lotions, Cosmetics. Chemicals of concern amongst the surveyed were identified with the scale of the Environmental Working Group. The specific chemicals of concern featuring PFAS, parabens, MI, Lilial, and Methylisothiazolinone were further researched on the health risks associated. Most chemicals are linked to be possibly neurotoxic, endocrine disruptors, and carcinogenic.
