What is the process of developing a model rocket kit for selling purposes?

Started Apr. 28, 2023

Abstract or project description

Although there are many rocketry kits in the market for sale, many are expensive and inaccessible. In this project, I am examining the methods of creating a rocketry kit designed to be inexpensive, reusable, and durable. By building a model rocket myself, I will have learned how to not only make parts of a rocketry kit, but also use techniques such as making the product unique and visually appealing. To make the different parts, I will utilize 3D printing. By using this method, I am planning to create the nosecone, fins, and motor holder of the rocket out of ABS filament. The body of the rocket will be made of black PVC tubing because it can be easily decorated by using spray paint or stickers. As for the motor, I will include pre-built products made by Estes. However, I will also include an instruction sheet for the user to make their own sugar motors which are easy and quick to produce. To further emphasize the difference of Estes motors compared to sugar motors, I will write a research paper explaining differences such as cost, efficiency, material, and time to produce one unit. I will also sell my rocketry kit in a one-product-store online where I will include a copy of my research paper as well as write a blog to showcase the steps I used to make the product listed on the site. I want my research to influence people to build their own motors safely and efficiently.
