Bio

I studied Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh and have conducted research within the school of engineering and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. I have experience working in a Molecular Imaging Lab studying Sickle Cell Disease. I have worked in a biomechanics lab studying the collagen structure of the sclera to better understand Glaucoma. Lastly, I have experience conducting research directly with patients as a member of the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Research program. I recently completed my Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering Columbia University and have wanted to build on my mentoring experience from undergrad as I transition into data science roles in industry (I currently work as a Data Scientist for Mckesson - CoverMyMeds). In my free time, I love to hang out with my friends and watch sports - I even write for a Chicago sports blog during football and basketball season.

Brain-Computer Interfaces: Where are they now, where could they go?

Brain-Computer Interfaces are a hot-button topic within the Biomedical Engineering community right now. Scientists have been using them in a variety of applications stemming from prosthetics to data collection to use for machine learning. In this project, we dive deep into the use of brain-computer interfaces for disease detection and diagnosis to uncover the current progress being made in this field and its current trajectory.

Coding: MATLAB, SQL (currently mastering: Python, R); Stat Analysis: JMP, SPSS; Numerous Image analysis packages

Teaching experience

I have worked with freshman engineering college students to conduct a research project of their own choosing in fields ranging from brain-computer interfaces, novel applications of medical technology, machine learning for drug development and discovery, and a review of the future of quantum computing in biomedical engineering. As a mentor/teacher, I guided them through the discovery and writing process - teaching them how to identify reliable sources of information, crystallize their thought process, and present their research in a professional, academic manner.
