Narrative Medicine, Creative Non-Fiction, Immunology, Biology

Bio

I was born in Houston, TX and grew up in Paris, France and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I returned to the USA for college and did my BS and MS in Biology at Stanford University, while also pursuing a minor in English. During my undergrad I conducted research in immunology, which led to an honors thesis and publication in the journal Blood. Over the past year I have worked as a medical scribe in Oncology at Stanford Health Care. I am now a medical student at Stanford. Outside of the classroom I love to read and write, particularly in the area of Narrative Medicine - writing and reflecting about patients and healthcare. My other interests include nature photography and citizen science, Wikipedia article writing and editing, and running.

Project ideas

Project ideas are meant to help inspire student thinking about their own project. Students are in the driver seat of their research and are free to use any or none of the ideas shared by their mentors.

Reflections on Illness

Writing and crafting a series of creative non-fiction pieces that explore the experience of a person with a particular disease, especially if it is your own. Students would be introduced to the concept of narrative medicine and encouraged to use writing to think deeply and reflect on some aspect of the art of medicine.

Life Post Pandemic

COVID-19 has affected us all. How will life post-pandemic be fundamentally different compared to the before-times? Students will pursue answers to this question through personal reflection, research, interviewing, and more.

Teaching experience

I have worked as a teaching assistant for several years in both STEM classes (virology) and non-STEM classes (at the intersection of the arts and sciences). I also currently volunteer an hour weekly as an ESL tutor for the group Upward Scholars, which I have done for the past year.
